Odoo's strength is breadth with a low entry barrier: modules can be activated step by step and the framework allows deep customisation. That is precisely where the project risk lies — freedom to customise demands governance, otherwise customizing sprawl emerges.
For German accounting requirements, partner know-how decides in practice: localisation, GoBD-compliant processes and DATEV paths are feasible but not automatic from the standard. The edition and hosting choice (Online, Odoo.sh, on-premise) should be fixed early.
